The Journey of Sara Miller London Portmeirion
The journey began by Portmeirion stumbling across the gifted designer that is, Sara Miller. We say ‘stumbled’ but you couldn’t really miss her. She’d been designing cards, stationery and homewares for just a year and had already been named ‘Most Promising Young Designer’ in the 2016 Henries Awards as well as her products being stocked in some of the best retailers in the UK and abroad.
Sara Miller is an extremely talented designer from London who shares the same passion and commitment to unique design and excellent quality as we do at Portmeirion. Sara’s mesmerising designs feature a wealth of vibrant colours and striking gold embellishments that are inspired by her travels.
And now we have a truly enchanting ceramic collections in collaboration with Portmeirion.
The Magical Sara Miller London Portmeirion Launch Event
As we are sure you will agree, these beautiful pieces deserved to be presented to the world in the grandest of manners. With this in mind, together with Sara Miller, Portmeirion held a launch event at the magnificent Dandelyan Bar at the Mondrian Hotel in London. The Mondrian is famous for its bold style and sophistication, but also has a special link to Portmeirion and Sara Miller.
If you have been onto Teacups & Tales before, you may have seen our Afternoon Tea With a Twist post about the Dandelyan Bar, named ‘The World’s Best Cocktail Bar’ in 2017. The Dandelyan Bar uses our iconic Botanic Garden collection to serve its special afternoon tea (with cocktails out of a teapot!), so it’s safe to say we are big fans of their décor. The Mondrian also has an extra special place in Sara’s heart as she held her wedding reception in the Rumpus Room of the Mondrian just a few years ago. So naturally, we felt this was the perfect place to showcase the beautiful Sara Miller London Portmeirion collections to leading journalists, bloggers and customers.
The big event was held on Wednesday 13th September. The bar was styled head to toe with pieces from all 4 beautiful collections, elegant centrepieces (including a giant cake stand) and stunning floral displays of roses, hydrangeas and dahlias. Guests were welcome to attend a relaxed morning session with an abundance of fresh pastries and tea & coffee, a fanciful afternoon tea session with the Dandelyan’s world-famous afternoon tea treats or a fun evening session with oodles of canapés and fizz. Each guest was taken on the Sara Miller London Portmeirion journey, from Sara’s inspiration to the ideal collaboration. And they were able to meet the passionate Sara Miller herself. To top it off, they were invited to take a ride in Sara’s super cute flamingo taxi!
Throughout the day we had to keep our cool with some extremely exciting appearances from This Morning, Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Denise Van Outen, Little Big Bell, KBB magazine, John Lewis any many more!
